Why your 5 to 8 year old boy or girl should play 4v4 soccer...
Does your child show interest in soccer? Maybe you feel they should try something new? Many young players, between the ages of 6 and 8 years old, should start by playing 4v4 soccer, on a small pitch with a Size 3 ball using small goals (without goalkeepers) and they should almost be refereeing the game themselves.
CSA Wayne, along with our team of coaches have designed a comprehensive 4v4 soccer program where we not only develop the players short term, but creates the foundations/ habits which enhance the future development of our players tremendous. Playing in this smaller environment, creates less complexity and keeps players more engaged. This allows a greater level of understanding and we are then able to introduce a number of good habits which will help players as they progress into our travel and academy level play with 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11.
In 4v4 the young player is getting maximum touches of the ball, which is the best way to develop their skills. They feel confident and successful as it is easier to score goals, pass to a teammates, and play the game. They are also learning the basic principles of the game including ball control, dribbling, passing, defending, and scoring.
This format of the game should be fun and pressure-free and should not be associated with winning a trophy. Kids want to win, and there is no harm in that, but winning is more than the final result. Every child on the pitch can win if they are rewarded for their effort rather than the final score and that is what will breed good, motivated players with a great work ethic, and ultimately a generation of young players who want to stay in the game
Program overview:
Ages: 1/1/2016 to 12/31/2018 - girls & boys (Separate Programs)
Teams: Will have up to 8 players. Each Team will have one of our Leaders to help facilitate the games.
Duration: 10 Week Program - Starting January 13th 2024.
Location: Calvary Gospal Church, Wayne NJ 07470.
Cost: 10 Weeks - $180 or 5 Weeks - $100
Girls Program - Will be accepting 12 players, and the session will be split 50/50 with technical development and games play.
Boys Program - Will be accepting 24 players, which will be split into 4 teams, and game schedule created.
Jerseys $45
Please note: There will be a one time $45 jersey fee, which will provide you with the blue, white and red jersey's required for the program. These will be reusable each season, Fall, Winter and Spring.
Maximum Capacity - 24 Registrations per gender.
NOTE: All players must accept the NJYS (New Jersey Youth Soccer) registration to participate in our programs.
