First Kick Program Ages 3-4

Where to start!

It's never too young to start soccer! The aim of our First Kick Program is to provide a fun and controlled environment that allows young children, both boys and girls, the freedom to express different movements, while challenging them to have greater control of their own bodies, by performing basic fundamental movement skills.

Research shows that early brain growth is extremely rapid, and physical literacy learning creates more brain cell functions, which enhances the development of brain capacity, as well as having significant impact on their physical development in the future. Some supporting articles from Herald Scotland and Active for Life are worth the quick read.

This program is delivered by our professional soccer trainers and although the activities will relate to the game it is the use of the sport that is meant to develop fundamental movement and physical skills. The development of physical literacies and basic motor skills allows children to have more control of their own bodies which in turn allows them to develop soccer specific skills quicker in the future. This will enhance the speed of the learning process, as they hopefully continue to move through the Wayne Soccer Club pathway, towards soccer development.

The program uses fun based soccer training activities that focus on developing a range of fundamental skills. Specific focus is given to:

  • Agility, balance and coordination
  • Physical awareness
  • Movement patterns and sequences
  • Spatial awareness
  • Social skills
  • Listening skills

Session format

  • Each session has been designed around fun based games that promote the programs core values.
  • The curriculum has been created by professional child development experts that have extensive experience in designing child centered training programs.
  • Each class is delivered by highly enthusiastic and experienced youth soccer coaches.

While the theme of the session is soccer, the main focus of the program is to help develop a strong physically foundation and advanced motor skills.

Program Structure

  • Each session typically runs 45 minutes, with one session per week over a four (4) week period. Each season we will have two (2) four week blocks which run consecutively.
  • This program is part of our Annual Membership Package, which provides an additional 10% off registration.
